A Federal High Court in Abuja has declared the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primary election that produced Asue Ighodalo as its governorship candidate invalid.
The primary, conducted on February 22, 2024, was voided due to the unlawful exclusion of 378 delegates from voting.
Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo delivered the judgment, siding with the aggrieved delegates who filed the suit, led by Hon Kelvin Mohammed.
The judge ruled that the PDP violated both the Electoral Act 2022 and its guidelines during the primary election held at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
