Former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, Thursday collapsed outside the courtroom of the Federal High Court, Abuja, delaying his arraignment for alleged financial crimes under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Despite initial delays, Mamman returned to court and affirmed his readiness for arraignment, explaining his collapse was due to medication on an empty stomach.
After being served with the charge following his resuscitation, Mamman entered the courtroom with part of his clothes drenched. When Justice Omotosho inquired about the wetness, Mamman explained that water was poured on him.
Mamman’s lawyer, Ate, sought the understanding of the court for an adjournment, stating that his client was not fit to proceed with the arraignment on the scheduled date. However, due to the court‘s workload, the arraignment was postponed until the end of September.
Despite the earlier incident, Mamman told the court that he was fit to continue with the arraignment. He explained that he collapsed outside the courtroom due to the drugs he had taken without eating, causing his blood pressure to drop while waiting to be called.

The investigations uncovered property in Nigeria and overseas allegedly linked to the suspects, while millions of naira and dollars had reportedly been recovered.As the case continues, the health concerns raised by Mamman‘s collapse serve as a reminder of the challenges faced by individuals involved in legal proceedings. The court has adjourned the arraignment until 1 pm on the same day, allowing Mamman time to recover and prepare for the next stage of the proceedings.
