Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos after serving a six-month sentence for naira abuse. Bobrisky was sentenced by Justice Abimbola Awogboro in April 2024 for spraying naira notes at social events, which violated the Central Bank of Nigeria’s regulations.
Upon his release on August 5, 2024, Bobrisky emerged in style, driving a black jeep and wearing a full face of makeup. In an interview with GoldMyneTV, he advised others to follow the law and warned against the consequences of naira abuse, stating, “Don’t spray money, unless you’ll be a landlord inside Kirikiri.”Bobrisky’s conviction stemmed from incidents where he was caught spraying money at events, leading to charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Despite filing an appeal against his conviction, he completed his sentence before the appeal could be heard. Bobrisky expressed gratitude to his supporters and emphasized focusing on those who stood by him during his incarceration.
