The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has clarified that it has not set a price for petrol, refuting claims that it would sell the fuel at N600 per litre. This statement comes in light of projections made by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), which suggested that the refinery’s petrol prices would fall between N600 and N650 per litre when it begins supplying fuel.
Anthony Chiejina, the group chief branding and communications officer for Dangote Group, emphasized that IPMAN is not currently a business partner of the refinery and that there have been no discussions regarding petrol pricing with them. He urged the public to disregard speculative announcements and stated that the company has official channels for communicating with stakeholders.
This clarification from Dangote comes as the refinery is expected to start petrol supply this month, following its previous announcement of beginning operations in August. The refinery, which has a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, aims to significantly impact fuel prices in Nigeria, similar to its effect on diesel prices earlier.
