Akwa ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel has confirmed the arrest and detention of his senior special assistant on security, Iniobong Ekong by the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Emmanuel who expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the presidential and national assembly elections said Ekong was being detained by the army in Port Harcourt without any explanation.
The governor appealed to security agencies to avoid any action that could truncate the electoral process
Meanwhile, the Apc Governorship Candidate Obong Nsima also expressed satisfaction on the conduct of elections after casting his vote in village in Ikot Oboroenyin in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area.
The governorship hopeful however berated the influx of thugs in some polling units
It was reported that elections in Akwa-Ibom state were peaceful as no incidents of violence reported.
