Onnoghen Appears before CCT
The suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen has appeared before the Danladi Umar led Code of Conduct Tribunal.
The Tribunal had ordered Onnoghen’s arrest following his absence in court.
Onnoghen is facing trial on six counts of alleged false assets declaration.
He was charged by the federal government after he was found culpable by the Code of Conduct Bureau which received a petition from an ally of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari then suspended the chief justice despite the opposition of many Nigerians including the Nigerian Bar Association which argued that the president has no such powers to suspend the head of another branch of government.
