The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the immediate release of Kwara South Senator, Rafiu Ibrahim.
Ibrahim was detained by the police following allegations that he masterminded a violence that broke out in Ojoku, Kwara State, four days ago.
However, the PDP has said the Senator was framed adding that his continued detention on the eve of crucial elections in which he is a lead contender, is completely provocative.
The party also cautioned the police to “stop harassing, arresting and detaining its members on flimsy charges, as such will directly pitch security agents against the people in a manner that might spark off violent resistance with regrettable consequences”.
The party however called on the Police IG, to call the State Police Commissioner to order.
It would be recalled that the PDP had rejected the appointment of Kayode Egbetokun, a former aide to Bola Tinubu as Kwara Police Commissioner saying there were plots by the APC to use him to manipulate the security system in the state during the elections.
