The Independent National Electoral Commission- INEC- is reportedly spending a whopping N1.05billion on the transportation and storage of sensitive and non-sensitive materials for the 2019 general elections.
The electoral umpire employs the services of Nigerian Air-force for the transportation of materials from Abuja to all the 36 states of the federation wherein they are stored in the CBN branch offices in the state capitals.
INEC actively collaborates with several organs of government including security agencies, Immigration and Federal Road Safety Commission in the conduct of elections in the country.
Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar had announced to pressmen in Abuja on Wednesday that the Nigerian Air Force-NAF- deployed 8 aircrafts to convey 633, 970kg of election materials across Nigeria for the ongoing general elections.
There was a national confusion concerning the distribution of electoral materials in the build up to the national assembly and presidential elections three weeks ago.
Materials (sensitive and non-sensitive) for several states had been conveyed to the wrong locations which led to the postponement of the polls at the eleventh hour.
The next round of elections to determine who run the states as governors and houses of assembly men would take place this Saturday across Nigeria.
