Justice Walter Onnoghen, Nigeria’s suspended chief judge did not attend his scheduled trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja where he is facing charges over non-declaration of assets.
Adegboye Awomolo (SAN) – counsel to the embattled Chief Justice informed the court that his client was absent from the court owing to a toothache which needed to be treated without further delays. He presented a medical report to buttress his claim. It was also reported that Justice Onnoghen’s blood pressure shot up to 410/121.
The three man CCT panel had ruled yesterday that the trial of the chief justice would continue everyday but with his recent health challenges, the tribunal ruled that he be allowed to take a 72 hour bed rest and return on March 18th.
