Barely two weeks after he was released from Kano Central Prison for murder charges, human rights activist- Deji Adeyanji- has announced his withdrawal from the social justice pressure group- “Our Mumu Don Do.”
Adeyanju who is a co-founder of the group announced on Wednesday morning that he has pulled out of the body over what he perceived to be acts of betrayal by the group’s leader- Charles Oputa- known mostly by his moniker- Charley Boy- while he was away in the Kano gulag.
In a tweet, the popular activist said thus: “Dear Nigerians, I have resigned my membership of Our Mumu Don Do. I no longer have confidence in the leader of the movement, Charly Boy. He betrayed the cause while I was away in prison, compromised with the oppressors. Thank You.”
Adeyanju who has been at the centre of several anti-government protests in the last four years is a social media sensation and since he broke the news of his divorce with his coalition partner, the Nigerian social media space has been filled with speculation and banter concerning his abrupt departure.
