The Nigerian Police has reacted again to the death of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) officer, Ogar Jumbo, who was reportedly ‘beaten to death’ by police officer at Nyanya, a suburb area of the FCT on Wednesday.
Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, had on Thursday said the late NSCDC officer the claims he was beaten to death by police officers was not true.
However, police, in a statement on Saturday, said the IGP, Mohammed Adamu, had ordered a comprehensive and speedy investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Ogar.
The IGP, while condoling with the family and the NSCDC, assured everything humanly possible will be done to ensure that justice prevails.
He also said the NSCDC and the family of the deceased, may, for the purpose of transparency, nominate any medical doctor of their choice to witness the autopsy, at the appropriate time and venue.
He said the autopsy will help the investigators to have a definitive understanding of the real cause of death.
