Police confirmed last night the arrest of the team under the Lagos State Police Command over Johnson’s killing.
Today, President Muhammadu Buhari sent condolences on his official Twitter handle @NGRPresident saying:
The Senate President Bukola Saraki also called for the fast-tracking of reform of the police.
Other luminaries who have responded included singer Simisola Ogunleye condemned the killing and called on the President to act quickly.
Some residents of the Mangoro/Onipetesi community in Lagos also went on a rampage blocking the Oshodi/Abeokuta expressway in protest against the killing of Johnson in the area.
The angry residents blocked the major roads with tyres and woods after a youth was allegedly shot dead by policemen from Anti-Cultism Unit of Lagos State Command.
It has emerged that an unmarked commercial bus occupied by the policemen had visited the community on Sunday afternoon in search of youths dressed wildly and wore dreadlocks.
It’s alleged that one of the police operatives allegedly shot dead the Kolade from behind in an attempt to disperse a crowd which had gathered during the raid.
Police, however, confirmed members of the team suspected to be involved in the shooting have since been arrested and are currently in police custody undergoing interrogation.
Police said they will be subjected to internal disciplinary procedures and may be prosecuted in conventional court if implicated in the ongoing investigation.
