Igbosere High Court, Lagos renewed a bench warrant for the arrest of a former Super Eagles captain, Augustine Okocha, over alleged tax evasion.
Justice Adedayo Akintoye extended the warrant, earlier issued on Jan. 29, 2019 following an application made by the Lagos State Prosecutor, Yusuf Sule.
Sule presented before the court that Okocha was yet to settle out of court a 2017 alleged income tax evasion charge. further stating that Okocha has also failed to appear before the honourable court since 0ctober 5,2017.
However, the Presecutor stated that even though former super Eagle’s captain had made contacts with the Lagos Internal Revenue (LIRS) but, he has not been able to make payments.
On this note Yusuf Sule seek for further date. On granting the application, Justice Akintoye ruled: “Bench Warrant is to continue against the defendant”.
The Case has been adjourned until May 28,2019 for further directions. (NAN)
