Mark Ekiyor was charged at Badagry Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining N285,000 under false pretences.
Ekiyor pleaded not guilty to two counts of obtaining the money under false pretences and stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Akpan Ikem, told the court the defendant fraudulently collected money from Kingsley Ozili to set up a fish farm which never materialised.
The incident happened on June 14, 2016, at Alemu community in Ijanikin, near Lagos.
The Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya, granted the 48-year-old accused bail of N200,000 with two sureties.
