Nigeria is not the poverty capital of the world, says Dr Abiodun Adedipe, an economist and member of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group.
Adedipe was reacting to a report by the World Poverty Clock, published in June 2018, which indicated that Nigeria had overtaken India as the country with the largest population living in extreme poverty in the world.
He said the World Poverty Clock was unable to prove where it drew its sample from.
Adedipe described Nigerians as incredibly hardworking people who think out opportunities in every situation and excel.
He urged Nigerians to believe in themselves, be creative and innovative to develop the country.
Adedipe’s organisation has as its primary aim is to facilitate growth in the areas of personal capacity and productivity as well as foster national development within Nigeria.
