The Ogun State Governor-elect, Dapo Abiodun has won an appeal seeking his disqualification over an alleged “false information” contained in the academic qualification he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)”.
A member of the APC, Abdulrafiu Baruwa had approached the Appellate Court to overturned the decision of the lower court that recognised the candidacy of Abiodun.
Baruwa had also called for Abiodun’s disqualification saying he did not participate in the one-year compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
However, the appellate court ruled the submission over Abiodun’s certificate came outside the 14 days statutory provision.
The court, therefore, dismissed the appeal on grounds that it lacked merit and upheld Abiodun’s candidacy.
