The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari and the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBS), Kawu Modibbo have been accused of involving in radio license racketeering.
A Non-Governmental Organisation, Coalition Against Corruption and Bad Governance (CACOBAG) in an open petition addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari said Midibbo and Kyari connived to allocate six slots of Radio licenses to Kawu’s private company.
“The Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari and the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission Is’haq Modibbo Kawu conspired and substituted, altered, racketeered and forged the names, addresses identity of the applicants.
“The number of licensees, who applied were 147 in number and 23 Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting Licenses, however many whom neither applied nor were in the list approved were substituted.
Modibbo Kawu appropriated to himself 6 (nos) Broadcasting Licenses across the six geo-political zones, namely Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Kaduna and two licenses in Ilorin.
Modibbo, who is also facing trial over an alleged misappropriation of N2.2Bbn Digital Switch Over project has not responded to the fresh allegations over the radio license.
The Nigerian Twitter community aired their views about the issue.

Here is what I am hearing this morning. Apparently the DG of the Nigerian broadcasting commission (NBC) has a media private company.
And he has been illegally allocating Radio licenses to himself (his private company) ????

The CJN (Onnoghen) was harassed and humiliated for a technical offense while the DG of the NBC and Buhari's staff were allocating radio liceneces to themselves. I laugh in political vendetta.#KawuRadioLicenceFraud

The story behind #KawuRadioLicenceFraud amuses me. Is Buhari not aware? We must fight corruption.
