Four days after the National Industrial Court ordered the reinstatement of the suspended Director-General of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mounir Gwarzo, some staff of the commission have staged a protest against the reinstatement.
Bearing different placards, the aggrieved staff also locked up offices at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The staff, chanting protest songs, insisted that they were not in support of Gwarzo’s reinstatement.
The court, Abuja, had on Thursday ordered the immediate reinstatement of Gwarzo as the DG of SEC saying the then Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, named as the second defendant in the suit, lacked the power to suspend him.
Gwarzo was suspended on November 29, 2017 after an allegation of financial impropriety was levelled against him.
He was accused of collecting severance package worth N104.85-million while still in service in violation of the civil service rules.
