The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned Honourable Ndudi Elumelu and six other members of the party in the House of Representatives over the Minority leaders tussle.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila had announced Rep Ndudi Elumelu (PDP-Delta) as Minority Leader of the lower chamber, a decision that caused an uproar at the lower chamber.
Others summoned by the PDP alongside Elumelu are Hon. Wole Oke, Hon. Lynda Ikpeazu, Hon. Anayo Edwin, Hon. Gideon Gwadi, Hon. Toby Okechukwu and Hon. Adekoya Abdul-Majid.
The party said their invitation was in line with the provisions of Chapter 10 (57)(3) of the Constitution of the Party.
According to a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan the summoned members are to appear before the party’s National Working Committee on Friday by 10 am.
PDP had chosen Reps Kingsley Chinda as Minority Leader, Chukwuka Onyema (PDP-Anambra) as Deputy Minority Leader, Yakubu Bade (PDP-Kaduna) as Minority Whip and Muraina Ajibola (PDP-Oyo) as Deputy Minority Whip.
However, Gbajabiamila announced Elumelu as Minority Leader, Reps Toby Okechukwu (PDP-Enugu) as Deputy Minority Leader, Gideon Gwami as Minority Whip and Adesegun Adekoya as Deputy Minority Whip.
