Kenneth Udeze, the national chairman of Action Alliance, has been kidnapped by armed attackers, according to Premium Times.
Udeze’s wife, Genevieve raised the alarm that her husband was kidnapped Friday morning outside a Zenith Bank branch in Dutse, Abuja.
Genevieve said her husband woke up in the morning to find several text messages indicating debit notification from his account which he did not authorise.
“After suspecting his account had been hacked, he rushed to the bank to find out what happened,”
“He was with his driver when he was kidnapped outside the Zenith Bank.” Udeze’s wife said.
The abductors took Udeze away in a black SUV, she said
She added that she was on her way to the police station to report the incident. However, she had reached out to a police spokesperson in Abuja and had not yet received a response.
Udeze has been the chairman of Action Alliance, a political party made prominent by Rochas Okorocha, former governor of Imo State.
Okorocha had tipped his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, to succeed him in the office under AA amidst rift in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
There were initial attempts to remove Udeze from office by Nwosu and other politicians affiliated to Okorocha, who campaigned and won the seat for Imo West Senatorial District under the APC.
Genevieve said her husband’s abduction appeared politically motivated, although there are no apparent indications to corroborate the claim.
