The Department of State Services (DSS) has handed over Abdulrasheed Maina to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for prosecution.
According to the Punch Newspapers, an EFCC official confirmed the development on Wednesday, saying that the ex-chairperson of the Pension Reform Task was arrested on Monday, after an attempt to resist arrest.
Punch exclusives stated that the DSS had alleged that Maina’s 20-year-old son Faisal pulled a gun on its operatives in an attempt to resist his father’s arrest. However, the secret police confirmed they were able to disarm the son and took them away from the Pennsylvania Avenue Hotel, Abuja.
The DSS said they recovered a pistol with live ammunition, a bullet-proof Range Rover SUV, a BMW Saloon, foreign currencies, and a Phantom 7 drone from Maina. Maina has been on the wanted list of the EFCC during the past four years over alleged N2.1bn pension fraud. He would be handed over to the EFCC alongside with his son for further investigation.
