NPFL Fines Rangers International FC N5 Million for Match Day Infractions

The Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL has fined Rangers International FC N5 million for multiple infractions during their Match Day 35 fixture against Enyimba International FC at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

The league’s Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, issued a letter to Rangers outlining the breaches committed during the game. During the match, which ended in a goalless draw, fans invaded the pitch in protest after a penalty was awarded to Rangers in added time.

The league found Rangers guilty of over-ticketing, leading to overcrowding, a violation of Rule B15.24, resulting in a N2 million fine.

The club was also fined N1 million each for failing to provide adequate security measures and effective crowd control, as per Rule B13.52. Additionally, Rangers breached Rule B13.52.1 by not implementing proper crowd control measures, resulting in another N1 million fine.

They also violated Rule B13.52 by allowing unauthorized persons access to restricted areas, incurring an additional N1 million fine. Rangers have 48 hours to either accept the sanctions or opt for a disciplinary panel review, as per Rule E1 of the NPFL’s Frameworks and Rules. Failure to comply may result in further sanctions.
