Unknown Gunmen in the wee hours of Thursday attacked the candidate of the All Progessives Congress (APC) in the Saturday’s by-election in Kwara State Mr Raheem Olawuyi.
Daily Trust reported that the attack happened after Olawuyi had departed Ekan ward for Idofin Ignana in Oke-ero Local Government area of the state.
The campaign team according to a statement by media aide of Olawuyi, Femi David said to have been led by some members of the APC state executives and other party stalwarts.
The said the assailants was said to have laid siege at the entrance of the town along the busy road before shooting their target at close range.
The back screen of the Lexus Jeep was badly shattered following the impact of the attack.
The Lexus jeep conveying the candidate of the APC, the driver and two other stalwarts of the party, were said to have escaped unhurt.
